Slovenia Canyoning & Via Ferrata Long Weekend

Group size: max 8
Level: you should be okay with heights and getting soaked, no previous experience required but decent fitness helps
Included: transfer from Ljubljana airport or city (1.5 h), two nights in a cool riverside hostel in Bovec, all technical gear (wetsuit, helmet, harness, canyoning shoes), licensed guides who speak perfect English and way too many bad jokes, two canyoning descents, one full via ferrata day, breakfasts, packed lunches, one pizza night, unlimited high-fives
Not included: flights, dinners except Friday pizza, beers (but they’re cheap)

Friday
We pick you up in Ljubljana anytime till 5 pm, quick van ride along the insane Soča river (the color is stupidly turquoise, you’ll see). Check into the hostel, gear fitting, short evening walk to the river, maybe a beer on the terrace while the guides scare you with tomorrow’s photos. Early night because Saturday starts wet.
Saturday – Canyoning day
7:30 breakfast, then straight to Sušec canyon (the prettiest one). You put on thick wetsuits, it’s cold at first but you forget in 5 minutes. First slide is tiny, just to wake you up, then it gets real: 15 m waterfall jump (optional but everyone does it after the first scream), natural slides that shoot you out like a rocket, couple of short rappels next to roaring water, one zip-line into a pool. Emerald everywhere, sun beams cutting through the gorge, feels like Avatar but real. Lunch on the rocks, second canyon in the afternoon (Fratarica) with the 50 m big rappel down a waterfall that makes your knees shake. Back to town around 5 pm, legs like spaghetti, pizza feast, everyone falls asleep at 10 pm like kids.
Sunday – Via Ferrata day
Different energy. Breakfast, short drive to the mountains, we climb the “Alač” route above the valley, 600 m vertical, totally exposed but 100 % safe on the steel cable. Views get bigger every minute, Julian Alps exploding in every direction, Triglav watching you like a boss. Takes about 4-5 hours up and down, last section is a hanging bridge that swings a bit, perfect for photos. Quick lunch at the top, then descent. By 4 pm we’re already driving back, drop you in Ljubljana around 6 pm, just enough time for evening flights.
Hostel vibes
Small adventure hostel right on the Soča river bank, private rooms or dorms (you choose when booking), big common area with maps on walls and random climbing gear hanging, terrace where you dry wetsuits and drink cheap local wine. Feels like home after one day.
Weather & water
Air 18-28 °C in season, water 8-12 °C (wetsuits are thick, you’re good). Rain just makes waterfalls bigger and everyone happier.
Short version: you’ll jump, slide, rappel, climb, scream, laugh and come back with 500 photos you’ll never stop showing people. Slovenia in 3 days, done properly. Who’s in?
